Feature requests

Vote on what Aegis should monitor next. A feature that reaches 50 votes goes on the roadmap: implemented within three months.

Switch discovery

OpenLAN switches via discovery

Monitor Telecom Infra Project OpenLAN switching the way Aegis monitors Cisco Catalyst and cnMatrix today.

  • OpenLAN is TIP's open switching, built on the OpenWiFi framework: white-box hardware speaking the same open uCentral protocol as the access points.
  • Initial support targets Edgecore (Taiwan) hardware; the TIP ecosystem is multi-vendor, so more follow.
  • A migration path for Cambium cnMatrix environments: open hardware that cannot lose its vendor, monitored the same way.
  • Onboarded through the uCentral controller connection: one connection and the switches are in, no per-device setup.
  • Ports with state and speed, PoE per port, LLDP neighbours, traffic counters and the same alert list as every other switch.
  • Not a plugin: its own integration in Aegis, sharing one uCentral connection with the OpenWiFi access points.

Wireless

OpenWiFi access points (TIP firmware)

Access points running TIP OpenWiFi firmware, polled over SNMP or, better, read through the uCentral gateway API.

  • OpenWiFi is TIP's open AP firmware with the uCentral controller: enterprise Wi-Fi without a per-AP cloud licence.
  • Initial support targets Edgecore (Taiwan) hardware; the TIP ecosystem is multi-vendor, so more follow.
  • A migration path for Cambium wireless: open firmware on open hardware, so the network never again depends on one vendor staying in business.
  • The uCentral API gives more than SNMP ever will: clients per radio and SSID, health scores, firmware state and configuration drift.
  • The same wireless views you get for Cisco and Cambium today: radios, channels, clients, noise and airtime per AP.
  • Not a plugin: its own integration in Aegis, sharing one uCentral connection with the OpenLAN switches.

Routing & firewall

Cisco Catalyst 8200L integration (C8200L-1N-4T)

The branch edge router with IOS-XE firewalling, in the same pane as your switches and wireless.

  • The Catalyst 8200L is Cisco's branch edge platform: routing, IPsec and zone-based firewall on IOS-XE.
  • Interfaces, tunnels, CPU and memory over model-driven telemetry, the same stream Aegis already reads from Catalyst switches, with SNMP as the fallback.
  • Firewall sessions and drops next to your FortiGate view, one alert list for the whole edge.
  • Not a plugin: integrated into the firewall and routing discovery.

These are not add-ons you install and maintain separately. A voted-in feature ships inside Aegis and updates with it: switched on under Admin like the Cambium and ISE integrations, with the same views, the same alert list and the same licence as everything the platform monitors today.
